This Place I Call Home is rebranding to All Sorts of Stories

Hello friend,

It’s been almost 7 months since I last showed up here. My break wasn’t intentional and so many things have happened during this time. From life changing events to new beginnings I’m here to share everything with you.  I’ve been pondering in my head as to how to start this letter to you, I guess I got a bit of ‘stage fright’ with my writing after this long break, but I’m here now, so grab a cuppa and get comfy.

My intention was to blog weekly, but after my last blog in early December, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I feel lucky in a way as I caught it in its very early stages but as you understand I had to take some time off to look after myself. Talking about surgeries and cancer treatments is not fun and was going through lots of emotions so I chose to withdraw a bit to myself because I needed all my focus and energy to help with my recovery journey.

I’m so happy to tell you that I’ve now got the all clear and sitting here in front of my computer typing these words makes me feel truly blessed. I will have yearly check ups, but I’m choosing not to let the ‘what if’s’ define and rule my life.

During this dark time, the thing that I struggled with the most was that my routine felt ‘violently’ disturbed. Daily hospital appointments that made me feel so tired, were leaving me drained. My work had to take a back step, my creativity was low, I had to stop my yoga (as I wasn’t allowed to do any upper body exercise for a few months). Everything was on pause.

Good things came out of this…

But one thing that wasn’t paused was my overactive brain, so I took this as an opportunity. I had been given the gift of time and that was a good thing. When everything else is paused in your life, you have time to think and make plans and boy did I make plans! I wrote and planned and thought for ages. I used that time to think of my life as a whole and how I really wanted to move forward with my creative work. If you have been subscribed here for sometime you might have read about my need to change a career direction on my very honest ‘Big Fat Failure’ post.

But before I dive into this, I want to say that every cloud has a silver lining. On the 4th of May last month I married my best friend Russ after 6 years of being together, in a very intimate, unfussy ceremony, just us two and our immediate family we said ‘I DO’ to each other while trying to hold back the tears, for better or for worse. What an amazing day that was, one that I’ll cherish for the rest of my life and a great reminder for any future challenges, that always, no matter what life throws at you, there is a silver lining. Always!

If you need a coffee refill now is the time!

This Place I Call Home is rebranding to All Sorts of Stories

I wanted to talk to you as a few things will change around here very soon, so here’s what’s going to happen.

A new brand name.

My blog name will change in a couple of days.

The new name will be …*drumroll*… ‘All Sorts of Stories’ (You get a sneak peek above). I thought long and hard about my new name and I worked hard on my new branding. I wanted a name that fits better with my new career direction but it’s also honest and true to myself. We are ALL made of stories, everything we are, everything we do, our past and our future is all stories. And that will be the essence of my blog.

A new last name.

Also I’m now a new Mrs Barling so my beloved and VERY difficult to spell and pronounce last name ‘Moumtzidou’ is long gone. Gradually all my IT will change so I thought to let you know as from ‘This Place I Call Home’ from Anna Moumtzidou, we will ‘jump’ to ‘All Sorts of Stories’ from Anna Barling. It can be confusing if you don’t know, right? But it’s all me!

A new business venture.

I encourage you to read my ‘‘Big Fat Failure’ post if you haven’t already as there I explain why the change of career. My new website which is launching in a few days will give you total clarity on my new business format. In simple terms, If you are a small business, an entrepreneur or you have always dreamed of having your own ‘thing’ on the side, either a small business or a blog, I think you will like what I have in store for you. I’m currently in the middle of fine tuning and sorting all my IT (wish me luck…). So stay tuned to hear more about this.

What about the blog?

My blog content will change focus but WON’T change direction! I will keep my blog content as is, but Interiors won’t be the main focus. You will still read about interiors if that’s what you’ve subscribed for, as that’s an ever present love of mine. My blog will continue with honest life stories, lots of design and styling ideas, interiors, marketing tips for creatives and my love for simple living.

I never intended to use my blog as a main ‘promotional’ channel for what I do. For me it started as my creative outlet and I’m intending to keep it that way. It’s where I really open up to you, were I experiment with my words, my writing, my projects, where I share all my new learnings. It’s like my creative playground and it will stay that way.

My Instagram and Pinterest will change name

Soon all my social media will change name to follow my overall rebranding. I absolutely adore Instagram and you’ll find me there during the week for chats. So come and join me if you haven’t yet! I will announce the new IG handler in the next couple of days.

Thank you for staying with me, and welcome if you are a new subscriber! Please, feel free to email me with any thoughts, I always love to hear from you!

Here’s to all new chapters, to more creativity, to honest conversations and to positive outlooks in life.

Much love to you,

 Thank you!
