I was listening to Sophie Robinson’s and Kate Watson’s brand new podcast the other day, and I heard the dreaded statement from Sophie; “Grey is Dead!”. My initial thoughts were, “How dare you Sophie, how very dare you!”.
To be fair, they had a very healthy debate regarding colours and tones, which was so refreshing to hear, but I just couldn’t shake it off me. “Grey cannot be dead” I thought to myself, “grey is the king of neutrals, how can you kill it”?
Let me reassure you guys, grey is not going anywhere. Even Sophie admitted at the end that she painted her mum’s annex a soft grey so her lovely pop colours could ‘pop’ even more.
Don’t know how to chose your colours?
I know trends come and go, but I’m a firm believer that you need to design your home and choose your colours by listening to your gut feeling and by what feels right for you, not following trends or fashion. If you are unsure or can’t decide what are your colours, a great tip that Kate gave was to have a look at your wardrobe.
Is your wardrobe bursting with vibrant colours or is it a sea of neutrals like mine? And there you have it, your favourite colour palette is right there.
While I’m still recovering from Sophie’s statement, I’m please to say that the new trends scream neutral but it is the warmer tones that are having a major comeback: browns, rich greens and mustards all create this cocooning feel for our homes, and these tones couldn’t make me happier.
I learned also that FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) has been replaced with JOMO (Joy of Missing Out) and I squealed with excitement! I say YES to missing out and I say yes to less brain stimulation and less hassle. Enough with running around like headless chickens trying to catch the waves and ‘Yes’ to time to enjoy our homes and our lives as they are now. Who’s with me?
Much love to you,
